It is a long time since there was an opportunity to enjoy a proper barn dance in a proper barn in Blisworth, but
now there will be one. On Saturday July 5 a real Barn Dance band with a caller to guide the dancers will be on
hand to encourage and entertain everyone at the Royal Oak Barn. Food will be available in the pub, and tickets
for this event are only £5, a bargain for a night of fun and dance.
... and from April 1st 2009
Over sixty people helped to celebrate the fifty years from the founding of Blisworth’s Allotment Association at the
Annual General Meeting on Monday March 30. A special cake had been made, covered in marzipan vegetables and
fruit, iced cake cauliflowers, onions, leeks and beetroot. The ‘seed packet’ on the top was even made of icing too.
After the main business of the evening a brief outline of how and why the Association was formed was given before
the cake was ceremoniously cut by a founder member, Albert Cadd and Mrs Doreen Sear, whose father had been an
allotment holder for many years before the association was formed. There are only two allotment meetings a year
and both are very well supported. The next will be on Monday October 26, [2009] and again members, family and
friends will be most welcome.
