Before the Main event of the evening the AGM was conducted by the
Chairman, Mrs Hilary Spurrier, who, after the brief minutes were read by Val
Maycock, gave a brief run down of all those things that had happened during
the past year. She also mentioned the present work with the Tapestry Project
and that of the Scouts. Hilary also spoke of the frustration with the apparent
disinclination of the powers that be to bring the Sun, Moon and Stars
project to a satisfactory conclusion.
Ray Andrews followed with an explanation of the Society’s finances and how they had been accrued,
what they speakers cost and with the warning that their prices were likely to rise in the near future.
As the Society was now entering its tenth year it was pointed out that subscriptions to membership
had not increased but, again, there was every likelihood that this could rise in the foreseeable future.
He was thanked for his efforts on behalf of the members and his report was belatedly accepted as
correct and that there were copies of his report available for anyone who
wished to see them.
As the Committee were all willing to stand once more for election and there
were no others who wished to join the group, they were all elected en masse.
Jane Percival spoke of the input that the Society had given to the Blisworth
festival and hoped that the Society would continue to give their valuable aid
with ‘Walks’ and the Display. she also reminded the Committee that the boat
used for the last Festival may not be available as it was being sold.
As there seemed a very little other business the Meeting was closed with thanks to everybody had
arrived and the main event with Steve Dimmer of the Inflatable Theatre company began.
