Village Scrapbook
There are only five months left before we have to call time on this worthwhile project.
George Freeston compiled his Scrapbook of village life and it still provides an
amazing amount of interest to all who see it.
At the recent Christmas Bazaar his Scrapbook provided interest for everyone,
bringing many old anecdotes and memories to people who used to live in the village.
From these people we managed to elicit a promise that they will provide snippets of
information . Interspersed with the pages being provided by YOU will be these
SNIPPETS which should bring forth many memories for people still living here.
Whatever you may be doing NOW it will be of great fascination to the future generation.
Do not think for one minute that what ever it is , the way you live your life, work, the
school trips, the amount you pay for groceries, or even your everyday existence will not
be of interest for future generations. Suitable pieces of card (A3 landscape) may be had
from the Committee.... and don’t forget the photos.
This month’s gallery shows examples of George’s Scrapbook.
The Scrapbook Challenge
Blisworth Heritage Society is planning to compile a scrapbook for Blisworth 2011/2012 in honour of
the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee CAN YOU HELP?
In 1953 George Freeston, as historian, produced a prizewinning scrapbook to celebrate the
Queen’s Coronation and we wish to produce another.
The challenge to Blisworth residents, businesses and organisations is to produce an A3 page on
card The content is UP TO YOU, perhaps the story of one day, or highlighting key events or the
story of your house, business,, or family. This is history in the making.
We will give prizes to the bast page from a family, a village organisation and prizes for different
age groups. Do support us in our aim to capture as wide a view of Blisworth and its people as
possible.
Pages need to be completed by the end of June 2012 and given to the Heritage
Society.
We meet on the last Friday of the month in the Village Hall.
